If you are feeling disconnected, helpless, or stuck, I can assist you in changing the patterns and ways of relating which might be holding you back. By prioritizing your sense of safety, welcoming heavy emotions, and guiding you to meet/heal unknown parts of yourself or your partner, you can gain freedom from the patterns in which you feel trapped. I work with individuals and couples, supporting them to understand the ways they manage stress through retreating inward and shutting down, or turning outwards for connection and validation. From there, I help clients to better understand who they are and what they need. I work with couples to calm their painful patterns by learning how to avoid their well-worn dance, share what happens on the inside of them during moments of stress or conflict, and be more responsive when their partner reaches for them. Where there have been fractures in trust or security, it is possible to repair these hurts and restore emotional security. Connecting with yourself and others can be scary, especially if it has caused pain in the past. The behaviors causing us the most difficulty are oftentimes our best attempts at feeling calm, safe, or worthy. You deserve to experience peace and wholeness, individually or as a couple. My approach to therapy is to create a safe environment where persons can address their emotional and mental health issues and to have the counselor walk with them through their present brokenness towards hope, wholeness, and redemption. Pursuing therapy is a courageous act! I recognize the difficulty of this choice and have great respect for each client who presents themselves to me for help. My aim is to make therapy a safe place where you can express your feelings openly, work through difficult issues and develop tools and solutions. My approach to therapy is to start with a strong relationship based on trust and acceptance, identify your goals and use cognitive behavioral therapy tools to teach you how to look at the ways your thinking patterns influence your feelings about yourself and ultimately how you behave in your life. In addition to giving you a space to process thoughts and feelings, I want to provide you with tools to use outside therapy sessions to better cope with difficulties. Specifically, I will help you focus on self compassion and mindfulness to improve your ability to be present in your life, approach yourself with kindness and find your own inner wisdom. If you are grieving or traumatized and need a safe, accepting and nurturing space to process and integrate these experiences or struggling with anxious or depressive thoughts, difficulty navigating relationships, history of abusive or troubled relationships, reach out and we will explore together to help you approach yourself with more care and acceptance.

For the past 15 years, I have been committed to working with preschool and school-aged children and their families who are struggling with anxiety and other emotional and behavioral regulation difficulties. I also support children and families through the complicated emotions of divorce, adoption, and other losses as well as the stress and threats to self-esteem that can accompany learning challenges, ADHD and social difficulties. I partner comprehensively with children, parents, schools, and other involved professionals with the aim of building the strongest possible foundation from which children can grow and thrive. I believe that play is a foundational method for engaging young children using their most natural language. Through play, children share the thoughts, feelings, and experiences for which they do not yet have words as well as learn and practice new skills for success in life. I also work closely with caregivers to learn about their parenting joys and challenges and hopes and fears for their children. We work together to integrate new insights into a parenting plan equipped with strategies to support families in growing their capacities for collaborative problem solving and emotional regulation.

I work with adult individuals and children aged 2-18 and their families/caregivers. I focus on supporting clients to creatively turn their pain into coping skills, missed connections into secure relationships, and problematic behaviors into strengths and resiliency. I focus on practical, real-world strategies that build security and connection through a balance of nurture, engagement, structure, and challenge. These strategies are a resource that can then be utilized through different life experiences, stages, and adversity. I support children and caregivers alike to learn new ways of responding, guiding, and supporting one another. I also work with parents to identify ways in which their own attachment history and family of origin experiences may be influencing their current parenting strategies and family dynamics. Parenthood is hard and my role is to highlight your strengths, build effective strategies, and support any needs for healing in a way that feels nurturing and validating. I work with adults struggling with unworthiness, difficulty organizing or tolerating emotions, or relationship patterns that don’t feel satisfying. Where you have needed to build protections or believe that secure connection or safety is not available to you, I can help you to work through the unresolved pain that limits your present reality.

I have over 10 years combined experience working in community mental health and therapeutic day settings. My professional journey includes individual, crisis and group counseling. Clients have represented different cultural groups with mental health concerns. Through my clinical experience, I have developed a particular interest in working with people experiencing concerns related to cultural identity, trauma and sexual violence, anxiety, and mood disturbances. I take a Multicultural, Gestalt, Cognitive-Behavioral, and Trauma Informed Care approach to increase awareness and enhance adaptive interpersonal skills. My approach relies on the unique experiences of individuals within their social and cultural contexts to increase awareness through reflection with in the moment explorations. I aim to provide emotional safety during therapy as I engage clients in problem solving as an opportunity to transcend interpersonal challenges and accomplishments. My role is to support clients in decision making to help achieve equilibrium that aligns with their values and stems from personal strengths. In time, clients take larger social risks by revealing their internal conflicts. It is my commitment to empower clients to expand their awareness and personal strengths as they embrace healing and meaningful changes.
